BBC Sport are reporting that Joe Kinnear has approached Gerry Francis with a view to employing him on a short term basis in a coaching role. Now, I’m not sure about you, but this doesn’t excite me in the least. But it’ll only be short term.
Quotes from Joe:
“I have known Gerry Francis all my life, he’s a great coach, I know he is tied up with media work so I put an offer to him to come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
Michael Owen will not be representing England in the forthcoming world cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.
Although he has hit the back of the net 5 times in 7 outings, this seemingly isn’t enough for Capello.
“Is he in good form now? He’s scoring but it’s not enough to score goals. Sometimes I see games where a player has not played for 89 minutes and then scores a goal. It’s not enough. Goals are very important but not only goals.”
I’d like Mr Capello to show me another England striker with a consistent hit rate of 1 in 2 for both club and country, even when his club is a disorganised rabble like Newcastle United?
A much improved performance from the boys. Maybe Joe’s verbal tirade against the journalists has had some effect on the players?
Everton drew first blood, when Nicky Butt hacked down Leighton Baines needlessly to concede a penalty, which was duly converted by Mikel Arteta. Everton then went 2-0 up on 35 minutes when Marouane Fellaini doubled their lead. Newcastle sneaked an almost unnoticed goal from a Stephen Taylor header on the stroke of half time, from a pin-point Geremi cross (I think the commentators had already left for their half time orange juice). Newcastle then started the second half in similar fashion, grabbing a well deserved leveller early in teh second half, when Duff slotted home a Stephen Taylor cross. The match ended as a stalemate 2-2.
NUFC.com are reporting that Joe Kinnear has hinted at potential new faces coming in to Newcastle over the coming days, to help with coaching.
“I have got someone in mind to come in and help us with our coaching work, probably two or three days a week.
“He has been a big friend of mine for a lot of years now and he has worked with England and used to be the England Under-19 manager. Like me, he has been out of the game for a while doing some television work.”
Lets see what happens next week?
Sportinglife.com are reporting that Johnathan Cleland, head of the South African consortium bidding for Newcastle United, has had talks with Kevin Keegan regarding a return to the club as manager. Mr Cleland told the Evening Chronicle:
“My meeting with Kevin went very well. I am hugely impressed with him and I got the sense there is a good chemistry between us and there is a strong mutual interest in working together.
“He is our preferred option, but we can’t make any concrete decisions on the management position until negotiations on our planned takeover are further advanced.”

Reported in The Mirror, Joe Kinnear swore an astonishing 52 times in a five minute rant to the mirror, followed by a further 53 uses of the F word in the first 42 minutes of a press conference. Joe has publicly stated that he wants his players to follow his lead. Maybe a little bit more passion from said players could halt our alarming slide?

It is being reported that King Kev is to be offered a 5% stake in Newcastle United if he returns as manager. The offer is said to have been made by a South African consortium vying for control of the club, as reported by BBC Sport. The South Africans are said to have offered Mike Ashley £300Million for NUFC, and are currently considered to be the current frontrunners.

Reported in The Mirror, it now appears as though Little Mickey has seen sense and has stalled his contract talks with Newcastle United.
According to Mike Ashley, our club captain was offered £105,000 in August to commit to a new contract with the club. However, he has now chosen to put contract negotions on hold until the end of the season. Of course, this has put rival clubs on red alert - Owen is now free to talk to other clubs from January, and leave us for nothing at the end of the season.
According to BBC Sport, comments from Joe Kinnear are suggesting that Mike Ashley is in talks with as many as 8 consortiums looking to purchase our crisis-hit club.
It is also being suggested that the South African and Nigerian consortiums are emerging as front runners, despite reports yesterday that they were out of the running.
